God works through the prayers of his people. Pray for changed lives among our inner-city neighbors. Pray also for our board, executive director and dedicated staff; our work is strenuous, and we survive on your prayers.
- Pray with us that the Lord would demonstrate his lordship in our lives and in the lives of our low-income neighbors.
- Thank the Lord with us for his blessings on our staff and volunteers since the merger of Inner City Ministries and Hope for Chattanooga in 2008.
- Pray that the Lord would bless us with a growing compassion for the poor.
- Pray the Lord would be pleased to reconcile relationships among believers, both black and white, rich and poor; and that we might be known as Christians by our love.
- Thank the Lord for sending a record number of urban ministry teams from churches around the nation this summer to learn more with us about His heart for the poor, and how to love our neighbors effectively for His glory; and ask Him for much fruit in the communities to which they returned.
- Pray with us that we would see and be willing to address injustices in our nation and culture, and that he would be pleased to right many wrongs.
- Pray with us that we would be able to strengthen our relationships with partner churches and other organizations; that the Father would lead us into new effective partnerships with businesses and churches; and that believers in both sectors would redirect time, energy and resources to address the needs of our low-income neighbors.
- Pray with us that the Lord would use the Dr. William Roy Mercy Dental Clinic and our mercy ministry to alleviate pain and crisis among the poor, and that these outreaches would rekindle hope in their hearts.
- Pray that the Lord would bless our efforts to train up indigenous young men and women, that they might rise up and provide godly leadership in their own urban communities.
- Pray with us that the Lord would bless our efforts regarding educational inequities, that we would be effective in our efforts to improve our public school system and would be able to help those who have dropped out in middle and high school unable to read and write.
- Pray for mercy for our unemployed and under-employed neighbors, that they might connect with prospective employers, find livable-wage jobs with benefits, and shine in their work as they learn to work for the Lord, not for men (Colossians 3:23-24).
- Pray with us that the Lord would bless our efforts to encourage homeownership among our low and moderate-income neighbors—that they would invest in homeownership and gain a greater stake in their communities.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit would draw the poor to our Abba Father and give them a desire to invest time and energy in building a better future for themselves and their families.
- Thank God for continuing to sustain Christian ministries like Hope for the Inner City during very challenging economic times. We are grateful to God for givers and volunteers like you who keep sending us special financial gifts or who keep calling to ask how you can pray for us. In times like these, may Christians be widely known by their love and concern for one another.
