Hope for Your Church

Training God’s People to Love and Serve the Urban Poor

Whether in the streets of the inner city or in the pews your church, Hope for the Inner City can help your congregation to nurture tomorrow’s leaders in a Christian ministry setting:

  1. Your church may be feeling rusty at mercy ministry.
Let us teach them. For years, our Urban Ministry Teams have helped suburban church leaders like “Kevin” teach their congregations and youth groups to identify with the urban poor (James 2:15-16). This is not a “feel-good” service project, but a seven-day hands-on experience in mercy ministry and leadership development. A $325 booking fee will reserve a spot for your church group of any size.

  2. Your church may be asking for a meaningful place to volunteer.
Hope for the Inner City needs youth mentors, teachers and coaches for its year-round youth programs. At our After-School Tutoring program and Summer Enrichment Camp, school-age children like “Terrance” can improve their reading and math skills and discover their God-given gifts (Ephesians 4:11-12). At our Summer Work Adventure Program, young inner-city teens like “Kristina” can be discipled in the Christian work ethic and explore the possibilities of college (Colossians 3:23-24). At our Summer Job Placement, older inner-city teens like “James” can be paired with a job site mentor and be transformed by the renewing of their minds (Romans 12:2). There are many other volunteer opportunities, especially in the evenings and also at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

  3. Your church may be looking for a high-yield Kingdom investment.
After-school tutoring and summer camp helps inner-city parents find—and keep—jobs that put food on the table, especially in this dull economy. That means less reliance on “charity.” And for many children, activities at Hope for the Inner City will be their only opportunity to study the Bible. Your church’s $200 contribution (donate now) will sponsor a young child for an entire season of camp.
